Sport day

High jump was one of the main highlights of our sports day today. The children also completed activities in long jump, discus, shot put, hurdles, balance beam and relays. Thanks to Ms Moorfoot for giving up her time to run the event for the children and for all the parents who came to watch. There were plenty of smiling faces!

Children’s Week at the Potato Shed

On Wednesday the J1 children were treated to a special day at the Potato Shed Drysdale. Through song, dance, musical instruments and craft, all children participated in a performance to highlight the importance of caring for our world.  We had some fantastic helpers and teachers on the day and had a lovely time. Thanks to all the parents who came along to watch the performance! Now we need to remember to keep our world lovely by recycling, saving water and putting rubbish in the bin!

Last week of term 3!

what to do on a rainy day?

what to do on a rainy day?

In the classroom this week we have been writing thank you cards, practising our reading and writing and working in small groups to complete a range of tasks. Many children enjoyed dressing up just for fun on  a very rainy Thursday when we couldn’t get outside!

Our School Holiday Reading Challenge

200 books long! Our class is aiming to read a total of 200 books or more during the school holidays… that’s about 10 books each! The books can be read to the children or the children can read their take home books and practise reading. When term 4 begins we will bring back our forms and find count up all the books! Lets hope we can make it to 200 or more, because Mrs Giggins may have a surprise in store if we can! We made our strip today and counting to 200 makes a very long line!

Developmental Curriculum Term 3 week 9

Rhyce has been busy learning more about snakes. He made a snake and drew lots of scales on it. Then he measured it with a metre ruler to check how long it was. Using the computer he found out that the longest snake in the world measured 10 metres. Well done Rhyce!

Some of the other children have been working co-operatively on a garden mural. William and Finn added the lifecycle of the butterfly to the mural.

In the garden with our buddies – Monday 7/9/09

The J1 children love their buddy session and what a better way to spend it than an hour in the SAKG! As part of our studies on the letter G, we looked, touched, smelt, and tasted a variety of garden produce and had some time to chat to our big buddies as well. Here are a few photos from our lovely session. Thanks to our buddies for being so patient and caring of our class. Thanks to Brendan our gardener for helping us in the garden.
